Marzia Baldassari joined the Volunteering Ireland Team in April 2009 and is the Coordinator of the Dublin City North Volunteer Centre. Prior to this post, Baldassari worked as a UN Volunteers Coordinator in Nicaragua, promoting volunteerism as a key instrument for sustainable development in the country.
Baldassari has wide-ranging work experience, ranging from the community and voluntary sector to private companies to international organizations in both a paid and voluntary capacity. She has studied in Italy, Denmark, France, Turkey and Nicaragua, and she holds an MA in Political Science and a post-graduate degree in International Relations.
Originally from Rome, Italy, Baldassari has travelled extensively in Europe, the Americas and the Middle East and has developed a strong interest in human rights and social development. She has a keen interest in languages and is fluent in Italian, English, Spanish and French as well as having a good working knowledge of Danish and Polish.
