Lee Jones began volunteering at the age of 14 for a youth group that provided recreational activities for people with developmental disabilities in her hometown of Stratford. After graduating from King’s University College at Western University with an H. B. A. in Sociology, Jones has worked in the social services sector for her entire career. She transitioned into the role of volunteer management when she began working for Habitat for Humanity London in 2003. She completed her Volunteer Management Certificate at Humber College in 2004 and became a Certified Volunteer Resources Manager (CVRM) in 2014. In 2015 her paper on Forming Volunteer Management Teams was published in the Canadian Journal of Volunteer Resources Management). Jones was the project lead for the PAVRO SVOS survey in 2017 and 2019.
Jones is the current President of the London and Area Association for Volunteer Administration (LAVA) and has worked as a volunteer program consultant in the areas of polices and procedures, and volunteer management. She is passionate about volunteerism and the role professional volunteer managers play in creating the conditions necessary for volunteer contributions to be transformative for both the volunteer and the communities they serve.
Jones continues to volunteer today. She received the Inspirational Achievement in Volunteer Leadership award from the Canadian Cancer Society – Ontario Division in 2016 for her work as co-founder and Chair of the Research Information Outreach Team.
