With her professional background in the Jewish community, Leonie Lewis has used her vast experience to direct and coordinate The Jewish Volunteering Network (JVN) for 12 years, striving to promote and create awareness of this national and leading faith-based UK organization since it began in 2007. With nearly 8,000 volunteers registered on the website and over 400 charities who utilise its services, JVN helps ensure that charities connect to thousands of willing and suitable volunteering individuals. JVN also provides training and networking for volunteers and volunteer managers, helps with Trustee recruitment and placement, and has a specific programme supporting individuals with learning needs and mental health challenges. In 2017, JVN was awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, which represents the highest accolade for any UK charity.
Lewis retired from JVN in 2019, but continues to enjoy promoting volunteering across the community and is an accomplished presenter. As the previous director of the Community Division of the United Synagogue, Lewis is accustomed to running large-scale events and activities.
