Leslie Nixon is entering her second season as Manager of the Special Teams Volunteer Program with the Miami Dolphins Foundation. In its inaugural year, the Special Teams program activated more than 3,100 volunteers who completed more than 42,000 hours of volunteer work in the South Florida, Orlando and Mexico City, Mexico communities. The Special Teams program sent volunteers to more than 700 events assisting more than 100 local charitable organizations.
Prior to joining the Dolphins, Nixon worked for the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee for four years in various roles. In her most recent role, Nixon served as the Director of Volunteer Services for Super Bowl XLIV and Pro Bowl 2010. This was one of the most successful volunteer programs in recent Super Bowl history recruiting and successfully activating more than 6,000 volunteers for Super Bowl and Pro Bowl 2010 related activities. Nixon also worked as a Staff Attorney for the St. Thomas Human Rights Institute prior to starting her career in sports.
Nixon graduated with Bachelor degrees in Journalism and Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations and Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Nixon graduated cum laude from St. Thomas University School of Law and is member of the Florida Bar. Nixon also obtained a Master of Science degree in Sport Administration through St. Thomas University’s dual enrollment program. Currently, Nixon is working toward a Doctor of Education in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy. Additionally, Nixon teaches Sport Management classes at Barry University and St. Thomas University.
Nixon resides in South Florida with her husband, Robert.
